Record closer and avoid wind

Keep the phone microphone unobstructed, move closer to the speaker and avoid rubbing the case. Record away from wind and loud traffic. A ten-second test heard through headphones can reveal problems before a longer recording.

Use this device-check checklist

Select a short saved recording and confirm that the browser can decode it. Keep the tab in the foreground while processing. Test both previews, download WAV or MP3 and reopen the download. These are checks to run on your device, not a claim that every phone has been tested.

Treat the limits as ceilings, not guarantees

The free limits are 3 files per local calendar day, 5 minutes and 100 MB per input. A compressed file can expand substantially in memory, so a phone may struggle below those limits. Try a shorter clip, close other tabs, or use a desktop browser if processing fails.

Is every iPhone or Android browser supported?

No universal compatibility is claimed. The tool needs WebAssembly, a worker, Web Audio decoding and working localStorage. Codec support and available memory differ; test a short recording on your own device first.

What if my phone recording cannot be opened?

Try exporting it as WAV or MP3 from your recording app. M4A and video files depend on browser codec support. Changing a filename extension does not convert the audio.

Can I switch apps while audio is processing?

Keep the browser tab active until previews appear. Mobile browsers may suspend background tabs. Closing or reloading during processing may consume a free slot, so keep your original file and avoid interrupting a cleanup.
